Dear Steve, I just want to broadcast my many thanks to you for the amazing writing exercise on your website that works amazingly to kick-start a flow of fresh ideas for structuring stories that truly hit home with kids. I've been working periodically on the exercise. It seems to be helping me to churn out story refinement concepts even while I sleep. When I least expect it, after my first cup of morning coffee, improved story lines are popping into my mind that add humor and excitement to a new picture book that's in progress. What a fantastic, mind-expanding creative process you generously offer to aspiring children's authors! Thanks for sharing your knowledge! Your generosity of spirit and willingness to share your knowledge is uncommonly welcoming and most helpful. I plan to finish the exercise this week. By answering just the first few questions, my eyes are opening to some better ways to tell the story of a picture book I wrote several years ago, but have yet to complete. It's a New Year and I intend to finish writing and illustrating at least one children's book this year. Your web site is very inspiring and helpful. Thanks for taking time to share your knowledge! Your friendly voice and impressive exercise on how to write a children's picture book is inspiring me to revamp the unfinished illustrated book that has been gathering dustballs in my office closet since 1993. I actually feel more hopeful about completing the manuscript and artworks since starting the writing exercise you offer. As soon as I click SEND on this Email, I intend to finish it. I will send you a copy of the completed story that results from putting your exercise to work. Thank you for freely giving aspiring writers like me some clues for creating a well written and more appealing story for kids. Sincerely, Susan Stephens Check out the writing exercise.
