Woulda, Coulda, Shoulda...so I did!

by Monica Epperson

A Heart with Two Homes

A Heart with Two Homes

Reflecting back over the fifty-six years of my dad's life, I could hear his words echoing in my head. "Woulda, coulda, shoulda, but I didn't."

He was an incredibly talented songwriter and keyboardist. He even toured with Ronnie Dunn in his early forties. But like many creative people he was a procrastinator.

Although his days were cut short, his legacy of promoting creative expression lives on through me, his only child.

Being egged on by the twelve year old girl who could recognize and verbalize feelings about her life experiences and continually wrote self-help fiction for her peers, the writer emerged.

Now a thirty-four year old woman equipped with understanding and experiences that more and more children are facing in our world, the writer became a voice for the children of divorce, a business woman, a book publicist and a nonprofit founder.

As my head hits the pillow, sometimes I hear a faint voice say, "woulda, coulda, shoulda...so I did!

Touching subject for a book
by: Steve B. (webmaster)

Monica, I love your book's cover and title. Very professionally done. Bravo!

I have to tell you something about your website which you may not have realized.

It's rare that a home page has a lower PageRank than the other pages on a site, but it happens on your site. Your home page has a PR of zero, while your other pages score a 1 (except for your author page, which doesn't even have a page rank).

I suspect that the problem with your home page is that you don't have any text on it. You may THINK you have text on it, but all that reading material has been posted to the internet in the form of an image, that is, a PICTURE of writing. It LOOKS great...

...but the search engines don't know what's there. For all they know, it's a picture of a polar bear. The only thing they have to "read" on your home page is the same menu that appears on all your pages.

I would seriously consider redoing the home page. You can use all the same words, but they should be posted as text, not image. It might not LOOK quite as nice (though in fact the words will look crisper), but the search engines will have a better idea of what your site is about.

Do know that this won't make a huge difference in your traffic, but it could help you get found a LITTLE more often.

There are reasons my site comes in 3rd for the search children's book about divorce, and those reasons are this page and this page.

The search engines prioritize information resources on commonly searched subjects. That's why they'll always rank a LIST of books on a subject ahead of a single book on the subject.

It's rather counter-intuitive! If you were to add a list of books like yours to your site, it'd likely become far and away the most trafficked page on your site. (I've written an article on the subject of such online book lists on my other site.)

Just a thought!
