What Does a Diggle Do?
by Heather Cross

sleeping child blanket

To Sara, who at the tender age of two, lovingly named her blanket, “Diggle”.

Diggles do lots of things.

They make you laugh, they help you sing.

A Diggle will love you both inside and out

Will be at your side if you smile or pout.

They wipe your tears when you are sad

They get time-outs if they are bad.

Diggles will go anywhere

They’ll stay with you here; they’ll wait for you there.

Some Diggles are dirty and some Diggles are clean

And they love to take baths in the washing machine.

A Diggle pretends to be a coat or a hat;

A pillow to sleep or a picnic mat.

A Diggle can make you feel big and strong

Or can cuddle you tightly all night long.

A Diggle will help you from feeling afraid.

They cushion a fall from the steps that you’ve made.

A Diggle will be your best friend and your buddy.

Won’t mind spilled milk or getting really muddy.

A Diggle so cozy will cuddle all snug

And will never run out of a kiss or a hug.

A Diggle will do lots of things,

But the best one of all is the love that it brings.

The End
