Reduce Shyness

Whether you consider your child's shyness a behavior or simply a personality trait, I have a book that just might help.

My children's book about shyness, How Smoolie Became a Shy-entist, is a form of bibliotherapy. Bibliotherapy is the use of children's books to address children's problems.

Smoolie is the story of a shy girl whose self-consciousness starts causing her isolation and pain. But Smoolie's mother helps her become a shy-entist - somebody who starts noticing shyness in others!

Once Smoolie realizes she's not the only person with this feeling, her mom helps her find out what other people do to overcome shyness themselves. Equipped with these new tools, Smoolie makes friends with a girl even shier than Smoolie!

It's an important story, and one that might help any child become a little more outgoing and feel a little less alone. (Read what parents have to say about the book.) But I've done something else to make sure that Smoolie's message really hits home...

Illustrations are important!

The goal with a behavior book is to get your child to interact with it repeatedly. That way the book's lessons are reinforced. That's why we offer two PDF versions of Smoolie...
