Meet Sarah Denslow, children's book reviewer
I recently graduated from college with a degree in English and quite a bit of esoteric knowledge. (I spent most of my senior year translating Old English and writing about Beowulf.) Now I’m working with much more practical skills in my job as a preschool teacher. Although many people look at me like I’ve taken leave of my senses when I tell them my job, I love it. I work at a Montessori school and cannot say enough good things about the educational philosophy. Seeing children realize their full capabilities and gain confidence in themselves is wonderful. It is perhaps not a job for the faint of heart, but the smiles on the children’s faces make it worth it. Plus, I’ll never be short of a cute story to tell at a party. One of my favorite activities at preschool, as you might have guessed, is reading to the children. I think I enjoy the books almost as much as they do. Occasionally I write my own stories to read to them. When I’m not teaching children how to pour their juice and discriminate between big and little, I’m usually reading at a coffee shop. In addition to books for preschoolers, I love novels written for children eight and up, preferably with some element of fantasy. I also frequently indulge in a love of Jane Austen -- Sarah Denslow Return to Sarah Denslow's children's book reviews. Best Children's Books home. |
