Henry turned up for work at the large, red and yellow Big Top, dressed in his bright red shiny costume, ready to make the children laugh. When suddenly, he realised his nose was missing.
"Where could it be?" thought Henry! "It was in my pocket yesterday. Oh dear! I will be in trouble if I can't find it."
Henry thought it would be a good idea to ask some of his circus friends.
First on the list was Poppy poodle.
"Hello Poppy Poddle!" called Henry the Clown. "I am in a bit of trouble, I have lost my shiny red nose and won't be able to make the children laugh without it. Can you help me find it?"
"Of course Henry" said Poppy Poodle, I think I saw Honey Hippo with a bag of red noses earlier.
"Great!" said Henry the Clown, "Let's go find her."
Henry and Poppy Poodle strolled around the big, red and yellow Big Top, to find Honey Hippo laying in a big muddy puddle, with what looked like a bag of red clown noses.
"Hello Honey Hippo" said Henry the Clown and Poppy Poodle. "Is that a bag of clown noses you have there? As I seem to have lost mine and I wont be able to make the children laugh without it".
"Sorry Henry" said Honey Hippo "Thats a bag of juicy red tomatoes for my lunch."
"Oh" said Henry "They looked just like my noses from far away."
"You're welcome to have one" said Honey Hippo "But maybe you should try Tommy the Tiger. I saw him with what looked like clown noses earlier."
"Thanks very much" said Henry the Clown and he and Poppy Poodle carried on walking around the big, red and yellow Big Top until they found Tommy the Tiger.
"Hello Tommy Tiger" called Henry the Clown and Poppy Poodle. "Can you help me? I have lost my shiny red nose and Honey the Hippo thought she had seen you with some earlier."
"Sorry Henry" said Tommy Tiger "These are not clown noses but my new shiny red juggling balls, they're for my new act."
"Oh" said Henry "What am I to do? I can't make the children laugh without it."
"Don't worry" said Tommy Tiger "I am sure I saw Elena the Elephant with what looked liked shiny red noses earlier."
"Thanks Tommy Tiger" said Henry the Clown and Poppy Poodle. And off they went around the big, red and yellow Big Top until they found Elena the Elephant.
"Hello Elena" called Henry the Clown and Poppy Poodle.
"Can you help me? I have lost my shiny red nose and Tommy the Tiger thought he had seen you with some earlier."
"Sorry Henry" said Elena the Elephant "These are not clown noses but shiny red ruby stones, for my new necklace."
"Oh dear" said Henry "What am I to do? I wont be able to make the children laugh without it!"
"Don't worry "said Elena the Elephant "I am sure it will turn up. Sit down and try to remember where you had it last."
Henry sat down on a bail of hay.
"I put it in my pocket after we finished the show yesterday" said Henry.
"Are you sure?" asked Elena.
"Yes" he said "I always keep it in my pocket with my gloves and whistle."
Henry sat on the bail of hay with Poppy Poodle and Elena the Elephant, looking helpless.
"Oh what am I to do?!" thought Henry the Clown.
As Henry sat thinking about how he was going to miss the show, Sammy the Snake slithered past.
"Whats wrong?" called Sammy the Snake.
"I have lost my shiny red nose" replied Henry "And I wont be able to make the children laugh with out it!"
"Oh dear" said Sammy the Snake "Where did you have it last?"
"I placed it in my pocket after yesterdays show" replied Henry the Clown.
"Ohhhhhh" said Sammy the Snake with a big smile on his face.
"What is it?" asked Henry the Clown. "Why are you smiling?"
"Well" said Sammy the Snake "You seem to have forgotten that yesterday you were wearing your shiny blue costume!"
"Sammy Snake, you are a genius!" shouted Henry the Clown. "I forgot that I had changed my costume today."
"Thank you so much for helping me solve the problem of my missing shiny red nose!"
Henry the Clown and Poppy Poodle ran back around the big, red and yellow Big Top into Henry's changing room, to see his shiny blue costume hanging on the door.
Henry picked up his costume and dug his hand deep into his pocket to find his shiny red nose.
"Yippee!" shouted Henry the Clown, just as the music from the Big Top started. "Now I can make the children laugh!"
And now with his shiny red nose on, Henry the Clown did just that.
And as soon as all the children saw him, you could hear their sounds of laughter.
Henry the Clown was complete and his job was done for another day.
