A Personalized Children's Book - More Than Just A Child's Name
Personalize By Choosing Subject Matter Your Child Finds Compelling A boring personalized children's book - even with your child's name on each page - is still a boring book. If you want to stimulate your child's reading urge, there are much better ways.
Books about subjects that fascinate your child are the way to go. That's why there's a whole Books By Subject section of this website. But if you're trying to come up with a special, unique gift for your child, maybe a book right off the shelf won't cut it. So why not take a page from someone else? There's a great Los Angeles store called Storyopolis, which also has a website. Their brilliant approach to personalized children's books is a basket of books customized to a child's interests and age, with a few more knick-knacks thrown in to keep with the chosen theme. Now you can go the Storyopolis route, or - hold on, I'm having a brainstorm - you could make your own story basket! Locate a basket, get some books on a theme, throw in some knick-knacks, decorate accordingly, and...voila! A truly personalized children's book basket for your child that will probably go over better and come cheaper. Other Options As you've probably gathered, I'm a believer in Do It Yourself. Growing up, my mom taught me that a homemade gift always has more meaning than a store-bought one. I'm afraid I still believe that. Of course, store-bought is a lot easier and quicker. But if you have the time and inclination, I do want to mention one other page on this site. This particular page offers guidance from a professional writer (that would be me) on how to write a unique, personalized children's book for your own child. Now this book wouldn't necessarily name your child. Instead it would be written for your child. By you. Talk about personalized! And frankly, it's the best page on the site. It walks you through the process of writing a short, one-of-a-kind book for your child that addresses issues your child finds compelling. (Why? How? Because you know what issues your child finds compelling and you'll be writing it!)

So There You Have It Consider personalizing in ways other than how the websites want you to. Create a custom reading package for your child by finding books on subjects that move your child. (Maybe even buy some customized labels that can be stuck on the inside cover of all your child's books. You know how kids love stickers!) Or, if you have the time and the faith in yourself, create your own personalized children's book for your own son or daughter - written by the author who knows him or her best!
You!
