Meet Isabella Thompson
My name is Isabella Thompson and I have been writing for most of my life. I am an author, poet, freelance writer, amateur photographer, and wannabe guitarist. My first book of poetry was published in 2006 under the pseudonym 'Mimi Thompson'. I have contributed to various blogs over the years and I am also a writer at examiner.com As a former homeschooling mother of four avid readers whose ages range from 4 years to 12 years of age, we are always journeying through literature together and sharing in great discoveries. I am quite selective, steering clear of books that lack substance and fail to respect the intellect and capabilities of children. I believe that children deserve the best brain food imaginable and therefore quality is essential. I relish books with love and compassion as the main theme and those that portray characters living true to themselves and influencing others to do likewise. I enjoy imaginative, witty books that are filled with rich language and imagery while promoting a more conscientious and empathetic way of life. Books that inspire young people to dream, to trust, to stand up for what they believe in and to forgo the status quo are also high on my list. Some of my favorite classics include
just to name a few. More recent works include A majority of these works have proven to be relevant for our time but possess that something special which will undoubtedly appeal to future generations. It is a tremendous honor and privilege to find oneself in a position of influence, especially when it involves children. As a parent I am continually amazed with the impact that love, good books, and an open mind and heart can have in creating an environment conducive to shaping well-rounded individuals. And here at Best Children's Books, as a reviewer, I hope to contribute in some way to what I consider to be the ideal of "inspiring young minds and growing them in artistic and creative directions."
