Illustrator Born in Florence

(New York, New York)

Pinocchio meets the Snake

Pinocchio meets the Snake

Italian born children's book illustrator and painter

I was born and partially raised in Florence, Italy, where the core of my insipiration was instilled in me from an early age. Throughout my childhood I always drew and experimented with different mediums, and once in high school I took several advanced art and art history classes to further expand my skills.

I then attended the School of Visual Arts in New York City where I graduated in 2006 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration.

Much of my children's art has come directly from the inspiration of my own childhood and fantasies. The stories that were read to me, with my dreams and imagination, brought forth such fantastic visuals that as I got older I gained enough talent to be able to transform them into art.

I have, however, many diverse styles that range from the silly cartoon to the sophisticated oil painting, both of which I handle very differently according to subject. I work in
  • oil,
  • tempera,
  • acrylic,
  • watercolor,
  • gouache,
  • pencil, and
  • charcoal

I can also work digitally, which has been required of me in certain instances. I have, in that style, published two sports children's books with Mascotbooks Inc.

When working with authors the most important thing is to understand the feeling they want to convey with the illustrations, which are in most cases the most prominent characteristic of a children's book, and to work with them step by step to ensure that the end result will be the perfect match to their words and, of course, attractive and beautiful.

nice work

i really like the thought that most of your work is done freehand and not digitally. i also do lots of work on the pc but the majority is done by hand i love the raw feeling and the knowing it was done by a person and not refined by a computer...nice work...
