Heidi

Heidi is a book that has truly stood the test of time. Written in 1880 by Johanna Spyri, Heidi is still widely read today.
Growing up, I remember walking the four blocks to my library to see what treasures I would find to take home. As a girl, my tastes were quite eclectic and I read just about everything I found, but
Heidi is one of the books I remember to this day.
One of the fun things about having read Heidi was being able to compare it to the myriad of movies based on the book. Some like the
Shirley Temple version
were amusing, but not very true to the book while others like the
version starring Jason Robards
were much more accurate.
To me
Heidi was a story of family, a story of how a child's love can soften even the hardest of hearts. The type of story that you want to have your children read because you yourself enjoyed it so much.
