A couple of my Space Cadet characters

I use my art to convey a story in just one image.

I like people to create a world with my art, to help them imagine. I would say I completed my goal if I help others to see a bit of my world and they can build off of it.

I absolutely love building characters; I think that would have to be my favorite part. I have designed an album cover for 22 Chemicals, and am in the midst of getting my first book published, as well as working on a couple others.

Digital Artist-Illustrator

Michelle Oakes, Freelance Illustrator

Digital artist-illustrator: diverse and dynamic.

My illustration art is digital, dynamic, and diverse.

I have been an illustrator since 2005, when I graduated with a degree with first class honors. I have worked for companies doing illustration and graphics for games and mobile phones.

While working on my degree, I developed a passion for narrative and games - which, like books, have a narrative, though not always in the linear fashion we see in books.

I am a dyslexic, and my dearest hope is to do books helping dyslexics learn. Being an illustrator is the best gift I can give to children like myself: to explore the story with pictures not words.

Natural-born talent, education and experience

I am a natural-born illustrator who entertained others for years while growing up. Consequently, other children would ask me to sign and date my doodles because they believed they would be of value one day.

Some of them still have the black line coloring books and dot-to-dots books I created for them.

Along with my creative imagination, others are surprised at how fast I can illustrate something. My talent, education and experience make me comfortable in a vast array of mediums, and my style varies from cartoon to representational.

• Three Associate of Applied Science Degrees and four Certificates in the design field, along with sixteen years of experience.

• Utilize the Adobe Creative Cloud software which includes Adobe illustrator, a digital pen and tablet and an iMac computer.

• One free work project included with the job audition to simplify if there is a compatible match in style.

• Artistic style varies from cartoon to representational.

• Able to work independently and or with others via all available technology and telecommunication.

Aspiring Digital Illustrator

Hello there,

My name is Amy and I have been drawing ever since I can remember being taught the basics by my mom.

Since growing up I have attended 4 years of Art college, doing everything from Fine Art Aspects, to Art History and eventually into digital art and animation.

Since leaving college I have immersed myself in many art groups on an amazing website called Deviantart and am producing multiple pieces a day with all subject matter.

I am still teaching myself to draw some things that I was never really good at, but once I aim to complete something to the best that I can, I never stop till I reach my full potential and complete the task at hand.

My style is definitely a mix of realism and cartoon. I love to keep my work as realistic and anatomically correct as possible, but my coloring style and certain little details that have helped me develop my own style tipped the scale into the cartoon world, and I couldn't be happier where I am at the moment with my art.

Predominantly I work in digital media, but do have the techniques and skills to work in multiple traditional media too.

If interested, I am up for coming to an agreement where both of us will be happy with the outcome, and where the price will be fair for the amount of time and work that will be produced.

If you like my work and wish to contact me, please feel free to contact me here.

Kind regards,

Amy
