I was born and raised in Nicaragua, a Spanish-speaking country in Central America where public libraries are not common and donkeys carry children’s books from town to town.
Thankfully, my mom made it easier for me, making sure I always had books to read, and soon I was devouring books on my own. I grew up with the Paper Bag Princess, Ramona, the Very Hungry Caterpillar, and Harry Potter, among many others.
In fifth grade, I decided I was going to be a writer, and that goal hasn’t changed in the years since, though I’ve expanded the definition a little. I got my BA in English at Amherst College and I’m working towards a degree in creative writing at Full Sail University.
While my writing tends to fall under literary fiction or drama, I have a special love for children’s entertainment, and I hope to get the opportunity to write for children someday. I also hope to bring more books to my home country, so more Nicaraguan children can grow up surrounded by the characters and stories I love.
