Children's Literature
Books That Have Won Hearts & Minds

Pay Tribute!
Read the tributes.

I like this definition of children's literature: books that made a difference.

But I also like this one: books that have stood the test of time.

Actually, I suspect that the best definition is one that combines these two notions.

Children's literature - books that stand the test of time because they made a difference in so many young lives.

When a kids' book becomes children's literature

A book might help a child make sense of her parent's divorce. Another book might make her feel okay about being different.

A book can unlock the world of imagination. It can open one's eyes to an area of knowledge that can define one's adult life.

This website is all about the importance of books in a child's life. Let's make this page a place where grown-ups can pay tribute to the books that made a difference in their own childhoods.

It'll be a page where you can read praise for books that touched lives. But it will also be a page where YOU can tell about that special book that touched yours.

Children's literature - a book that made a difference in YOUR life

Think about the book that you think back on most fondly, a book that made a difference in your childhood, a book that might deserve a bit of credit for making you who you are today. This is your opportunity to

  • pay tribute to that precious piece of children's literature
  • inspire other parents to consider the book for their children

Let your children's literature book tribute say something not only about the book and its author but about who YOU are.

And you know what? I'll get it started. (Page past the form to see my contribution.)

Write a Children's Literature Book Tribute

I just know that there's a book you read growing up (or that was read TO you) that really meant something.

This is your chance to write about it! Thank the author for the gift of this book and tell everyone else what it meant to you...and what it means to you now.
