Here We Go Again People keep coming to this site looking for children's coloring pages. I keep trying to get them to do something else.
So, if you must, here's a terrific launch site for a whole bunch of children's coloring pages. But do me a favor!!!... (Actually, do your child a favor.) Don't send your kid to a page where they just point-click-and-fill an image online. Find a page that you can print out and they can color offline. Kids gain crucial eye-hand coordination by staying between the lines. That's it. Nothing else. It's something, but... If they do point-click-and-fill on some online children's coloring page, they don't even get the eye-hand benefit! I've got nothing against free. But I've got everything against worthless. So if you're going to find coloring pages online for your child, please print them out. And if you want to score points with your child, how about finding a specific coloring page with an image that interests your child? Use the search box below. Type printable coloring pages and then type what fascinates your child, like dinosaurs or figure skater. Did you find something? Other options Have you heard of Kidpix? It's not free, but it's cheap. (Well, it could be free if you have a Mac and don't mind an older black and white version.) Kidpix is mind-blowing. It's art software that puts an amazing amount of technology in your kid's hands. The interface is simple enough for 4 year olds. (I've seen them in action.) Much better than an online children's coloring page. Wait, how about a computer activity that supports reading? I know of a great site that teaches kids to type without you having to get involved. It's free, and there's no advertising or pop-ups. If your child is a pre-reader or just learning to read, this activity helps immensely with letter recognition. And it's fun! Rather than some dry "here's how you learn to type program," it's a playful, cartoony site that talks to your kids and gets silly in a way that appeals to them. It's called Dance Mat Typing. Finally... What if YOU were to write a book and your child were to illustrate it? Does that sound fun? Does it sound like a project you could do together and take pride in for a lifetime? It is. And you can do it yourself, or you can do it with a little handholding from me by visiting my Write a Pictureless Picture Book for Your Child to Illustrate page. More about coloring books. |
