In Search Of Children's Book Illustrator Jobs
This page was suggested to me by a children's book illustrator in search of work. We now live in a long tail world. Anyone can self-publish a children's book. That means lots of book illustrator jobs. Of course, it also means that many of these new jobs are without the support of a traditional publisher. It can mean partnering with a children's book author on a likely money-losing venture. So illustrators, authors: the terms of the deal you cut are up to you. The purpose of this page is simply to put authors in touch with illustrators, to alert authors to some people very eager to put pictures to your words. Authors, I'm going to send you to the bottom of this page now, where you can meet the children's book illustrators. Bye! Suggestions for book illustrators wanting to post an artist's profile 1. You can only post one sample illustration to this page, so make it your best. 2. The web remains largely a text-based medium. I know that you're all artists, but PLEASE try to write and write well. (Here's an internet fact: the more words you write, the more apt the search engines are to find your page on this site. Also, pepper your text with phrases like, book illustrator, children's book, and picture book. 3. Give your profile a punchy title that includes either the word illustrator or illustration and also the word book. To help you structure your profile, consider covering any or all of these points: - A description/listing of any relevant schooling
- A description/listing of your relevant experience
- A description of your style
- What media you're proficient in
- If you have a set fee, state it; if it's negotiable or project dependent, state that too
- Talk about what you're willing to do to "audition" for a book illustrator job. Are you willing, for example, to do sample sketches?
- Some words about your collaborative style
- The web address of a page where more of your illustrations can be seen
- How you would like to be contacted
Good luck! Let's see how this works.
