Not Too Serious: Children's Book Illustrator
by Laurence Knighton - designer/illustrator/writer
(Boise, Idaho)
Not so scary monster under the bed
I was trained in the old school ways, at a good school by some of the best. Yet, I just couldn't navigate well with the more serious art. So, I migrated away from advertising design and illustration to writing and producing comic strip art, animation, and finally settled on children's books and never looked back.

JMV Illustrations - Jennifer Varn
Zsu Zsu's Big Fish Adventure
I am a freelancer who has previously illustrated for adult themed books such as philosophy and women's health.
I am most excited about illustrating in the children's book field and look forward to welcoming opportunities that may come my way.
My style can be described as "loose" but still captures detail. My illustrations are created through a variety of mediums, mostly of acrylic, paper cut-outs, pastel, and matte-glue. My work tends to be more on the realistic side and comes equipped with luscious colors. I love color, and it should be no surprise that my illustrations are influenced by impressionistic color theories.
Please feel free to contact me if you would like to see more samples of my children's book illustrations.

Painted look via Photoshop
by Drema Haywood
painted boy and girl
Book Illustrator
In my sample I used a technique using Photoshop to create a painted look. This effect turns out quite nice in a children's book layout. I can also hand draw images for a raw illustrated look, or do vectorized images in Illustrator.
I have an Associate's degree in Graphic Design and over 19 years experience illustrating and painting. I work with a lot of different media, but my favorites are Prisma Color, Acrylic paints, Graphite Pencil, Photoshop and Illustrator.
My strength is in color illustration.
My fee is currently $50.00 for 1 page, $150.00 2-10 pages, $250.00 10-20 pages, $350.00 20-40 pages, $450.00 40 or more pages (depending on size of book or author's budget).
I can provide 1 sample sketch free of charge, any more the cost would be $10 per sketch.
My style seems to be more geared towards children's illustration, but I am capable of illustrating outside of that catagory.
My current images can be found on my website, Dremedia.
Email me if you would like a bid on your next illustration project.

Children's Book Illustrator, Animation Style
by Jim Taylor
(Reno, NV)
My Buddy the Monster
Timeless animation style
My work is bold and easily assimilated, which is to say, it's not so busy as to be, well, too busy. My work is easy on the eye, and very, very fun. I employ the black lines and the bold, even colors of animated cartoons. This decades-old style has of course been proven consistently delightful. "If it ain't broke..." My characters have warm, engaging faces, and I always employ a sense of perspective, to give the pictures depth and invite the viewer inside.
