Not Too Serious: Children's Book Illustrator

Not so scary monster under the bed
I was trained in the old school ways, at a good school by some of the best. Yet, I just couldn't navigate well with the more serious art. So, I migrated away from advertising design and illustration to writing and producing comic strip art, animation, and finally settled on children's books and never looked back.

Life is Good and other reasons for rhyme
by Dave Manousos
(Santa Cruz, California, USA)
Life is Good and other reasons for rhyme
If you have a project, I have the time, To draw you pictures, or write you a rhyme.
Inspired by the lyrical genius of John Lennon, the nonsensical writings of Lewis Carroll, and the colorful magic of Walt Disney, I realized at an early age I would one day fulfill my dream and publish my writings and drawings.
Thus in 2004, I decided to write and draw for children. “Life is Good & Other Reasons For Rhyme” is the first of the “Life Is” series; with two additional titles “Life Is Weird & Other Rhyme For No Reason” and “Life Is Crazy & More Rhymes For No Reason” to follow. I am a member of The Society of Children's Books Writers and Illustrators, and a happy member of JacketFlap.

Children's Book Illustrator, Animation Style
by Jim Taylor
(Reno, NV)
My Buddy the Monster
Timeless animation style
My work is bold and easily assimilated, which is to say, it's not so busy as to be, well, too busy. My work is easy on the eye, and very, very fun. I employ the black lines and the bold, even colors of animated cartoons. This decades-old style has of course been proven consistently delightful. "If it ain't broke..." My characters have warm, engaging faces, and I always employ a sense of perspective, to give the pictures depth and invite the viewer inside.

I'm a free-lance illustrator from Argentina and I love what I do.
I am interested in book illustration, including children’s and young adults', greeting cards, and editorial illustration.

I love the moment after I receive the text to illustrate: thousands of images come to mind, different colours, shapes, animals, people, beings that were not there before. That's when magic begins!
