Big Red

I never had pets, was a girl and lived in town, but I was fascinated by all of the Kjelgaard dog books (Big Red is the first title that comes to mind).

As I read, I found them interesting and enjoyable -- it was a different world from the one I knew. It was decades later that I realized the profound and lasting effect these books had on my life. They influenced my attitudes and choices -- all for the better. The books are not as readily available today, but they are still wonderful.
