Monique Howard - Children`s book author/freelance illustrator

My illustration work thus far consists of one completed picture book and cover design as well as interior for a self published middle grade novel.

I have two published paintings in the Spring 2007-2008 issues of Avant, which is a college literary magazine put out by Rowan University.

My first freelance project was creating a logo for a doctor's website.

I have just finished sketches for an upcoming book project which will begin production in the fall.

My drawing styles vary from realistic to cartoon-like. The best suited mediums would be watercolor or color pencil.

Fees for projects are negotiable.

I am willing to provide preliminary sketches so the author may be able to view the range of my work.

Find me at Pen and Paint.

Feel free to sign my guest book.

Artist, Illustrator, Poet

I am perhaps best with a simple pencil and piece of paper, but love painting also.

As an illustrator, I believe drawings, paintings and most other mediums all have their place. It all depends upon what fits the particular story.

When painting I favor acrylics, and my work reflects the bright colors of that medium. Working in subdued, moody colors is just as rewarding though.

Besides pencil and acrylic, I work in oil, water color, and pen & ink.

Another dimension that I can bring to your illustration choices is wood-burned art which would work well for more traditional story settings such as: old-world tales, myths, fairy tales and almost anything historical (from frontier to medieval and primitive).

It is interesting and challenging to help bring a writer's story to completion in a visual sense. To be able to meet their vision is worthy work. We all know what it is like to have an image in your head that is just exactly what you are trying to portray in words.

I am available to discuss any project that is reputable and exciting.

My background includes: English education degree from University of Virginia with a literature focus; years of teaching history, geography, reading in public and private schools; years as an artist (murals, portraits, illustration, animals).

Rates are reasonable (vary with complexity), and some sample sketches are free. Visit me at Robert Jackson's American Art or email me at rsmjackson@knology.net.

Bright happy illustrations

To produce bright, happy illustrations for children is what I enjoy most of all. This is good because I have been a children’s book illustrator for many, many years, producing for a wide variety of clients a wide range of work. This includes picture books, magazine illustrations, educational illustrations and cards. Last year I completed an MA in 3D computer animation and this has led me to develop in fresh directions.

I enjoy the challenge of new projects, bringing the text to life in my own unique way.

The techniques I use range from traditional paintings to computer generated images, though my preferred choice is to use tempera paints. I have also written a large number of picture book texts and many poems for children.

I can be contacted at piercepix@googlemail.com and can send further examples of my illustration work on request.

Aspiring children's story writer and illustrator

I've been drawing for forty years, I've only been writing for six. My artwork had been viewed by many professional artist, and they seem to think of it as cartoons. Some artists have thought of my artwork as New Orleans folk art. I see it as whimsical.

Children's Book Illustrator - Natalie Tinti

Authors, Share Your Book with Millions of Readers

Hi! I am Natalie Tinti (multi-award winning author & illustrator). Most of the time I draw cute animals and children. Here is an example of illustration from my second book called Sewing a Friendship 2.

(Webmaster's note: Read our review of the first Sewing a Friendship.)

First, I draw with a pencil, then I use color pencils to make my pictures beautiful. After all, drawings need to be scanned into Photoshop to make all colors brighter and ready to print. That's all.

Thank you.
